Obituary for Patrick Michael O'Grady

Patrick Michael O'Grady
O'Grady, Patrick Michael "Rick,” age 52, of Centerville, passed away at home on August 24th after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born May 22, 1964 in Dayton, Ohio to Thomas and Jeannine (Isbel) O'Grady.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Rochelle and their 4 kids, Ash'lynn, Evan, Shawn, and Lilly. He is also survived by his parents, Tom Sr. and Jean O'Grady, brother Tom Jr. (Amy) O'Grady, sister Kathy (Duane) Young, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Aug. 28th, 2016 from 5pm-7pm at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home (92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook) for a life celebration visitation. A life celebration service will be held on August 29th at 10am at Centerville United Methodist Church with Tony Miltenberger officiating. Interment will follow at Bellbrook Cemetery. Friends and family are then invited to return to the church for a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at the funeral home. Please visit Rick’s Book of Memories for additional resources at ConnerAndKoch.com by clicking on his name.

Rick was a hard worker, at home and on the job. He went to work daily, even while undergoing chemo, and was known to whistle or sing while he worked. He was always a rule follower and did things by the book, literally saving the manuals to everything from cars to flashlights. Rick was once able to take apart and rebuild a truck engine on his own, and restore it to running condition, an accomplishment he was very proud of.

While researching genealogy and searching through cemeteries, it was very exciting for them both when Rick and Rochelle were able to trace his roots back to the potato famine in Ireland.

Ever the family man, Rick will be remembered every Thanksgiving for his deep-fried turkey. Always a quoter of various songs and movies, when trying to get his kids moving, he would say, “Tut-tut, looks like rain” from Winnie the Pooh, and whenever tears would appear, Rick would sing, “Don’t Cry out Loud.”

When food failed to appeal to him, Rick enjoyed a Speedway Speedy Freeze. So, stop by Speedway and have a freeze in honor of this happy, humble man and be reminded to enjoy the simple things.
