Our Cremation Options

Cremation has rapidly grown in popularity over the last decade. Therefore, to keep up with this demand we have made cremation a staple part of our funeral home. Our cremation services differ in terms of the type of ceremony you would like along with the actual cremation. Below we have highlighted some of our most popular cremation packages.

DIRECT CREMATION

Direct cremation is the simplest cremation service that we offer. It involves the completion of all required paperwork and the transportation of the deceased’s body from the place of death to the crematory.

MEMORIAL SERVICE AFTER CREMATION

This option allows for a memorial service to take place after the body has been cremated. A memorial service in general allows for more freedom as opposed to a traditional funeral. This option is great if you want more time to plan for a ceremony. With this option, the urn can also be on display at the memorial service.

TRADITIONAL CREMATION SERVICE

This option is rather similar to a traditional funeral service. The body of the deceased is placed in a special cremation casket or rental casket, and is the focal point of the ceremony. A viewing/visitation can occur prior to the funeral service. After the funeral service has concluded, the body is cremated as opposed to being buried. Once the cremation has occurred, the loved one’s ashes are returned to the family. Then you can decide to scatter, bury, or retain the ashes in an urn.

Alternative Cremation Options

The latest innovation in cremation is a process of alkaline hydrolysis, sometimes called resomation. The process was developed in the United States in the late 1990s. The Cremation Association of North America describes the process as "a water-based cissolution process for human remains that uses alkaline chemicals, heat, and sometimes agitation and-or pressure, to accelerate natural decomposition".

Compared with traditional cremation, this process uses less energy and releases no carbon and no matter into the atmosphere. Not all regions have made the legislative changes required for funeral homes to offer this service to families and the equipment costs are more than a conventional retort. Both factors currently reduce the availability of resomation cremation services.
