This is to my Grandmother, Geri. It's been six years, and I still find myself missing you, wishing I could call you on the phone. Grandma, I always think of you. You had such a big heart, and loved well. You showed me that art doesn't always have to be perfect, but it has to be original- from the artist. The outcome doesn't matter as much as the unique touch that an individual can offer the world. I remember you celebrating the uniqueness of all of your grandkids- you showed me it was okay to be different. You encouraged me to be a better person, to be softer, gentler, kinder. Grandma Geri, you were full of grace and goodness. I wish I had more time with you, and I wish you could have met your great grand-daughters in person. Ethne has your middle name. I want them to remember you and the heritage that was important to you (being Cherokee). Thank you for talking to me about so many things: faith, spirituality, genealogy, and forgiveness among many other things. Thank you for loving me unconditionally. Thank you for teaching me how to love others. You're so very missed and cherished. I love and miss you.
