Obituary for
Geraldine Ann "Geri" Leon
On Sunday, June 5th Geri Leon (73) passed away peacefully following her courageous two year battle with cancer. Enduring brain surgery and numerous treatment methods during that period Geri never uttered a single word of complaint. Her words were always that the Lord held her in his hands and that he would take care of her. Geri was loved by all who met her and she inspired and touched so many lives with her sweet spirit. She had a wealth of creative talents as shown in the numerous types of flowers she could seemingly just touch to have them grow and the amazing gourd creations she would envision, design and develop. Her greatest passion though was for her family. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and husband were always at the center of every day for her. “I love you to pieces” is the saying the entire family never tired of hearing from her.
Geri was born Feb. 14, 1943 in Skiatook, Arkansas to Audrey Mae (Blackwell) and Lloyd Gene Miller. She was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her son Frank (Frankie) III, and is survived by her husband of over 46 years, Frank, Jr., daughter Janet Verheide (Gary), son Joe Staples (Robyn), son Jerry Rose (Nancy), daughter Regina Helmick (Andrew), and daughter Rebecca Gagliano (Eric), 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Her reward for all she has done is to now rest happy and in peace in the loving arms of Jesus.
The family will welcome friends Thursday June 9th from 9:30-10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. A memorial mass will follow at 10:30 am with Father Tom Schmidt officiating. In memory of Geri, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
