Ellis, Fred O. "Red"
age 90, of Centerville, passed away Friday January 21, 2011. He was born September 13, 1920 in Proctorville, Ohio to Kathleen (Bowen) and Ottie McKinley Ellis. Fred served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII in Normandy for General Patton. Fred was a recipient of the Purple Heart and several other military commendations. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of employment where he worked as a job setter and foreman. Fred was a former member of the Fairborn Eagles, American Legion, Greene County Fish & Game, and the Greene Country Club. He was an animal lover who enjoyed fishing, playing cards, golfing, playing baseball and later watching baseball, particularly the Cincinnati Reds. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 wives Grace, Bessie and Louise, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Fred is survived by his 2 sons Jerry & his wife Joyce, Jeff & his wife Shirley, 4 daughters Erma & her husband Kris, Janet, Diane & her husband Dennis, Tonya & her husband Darrell, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 2 brothers Aaron and Dan, and 5 sisters Judy, Dorothy, Sharon, Brenda and Cynthia. The family will receive friends Thursday January 27 from 6-8 pm at Conner & Koch Funeral Home, 92 W. Franklin St. (S.R. 725), Bellbrook. Funeral services Friday 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Jim Hopkins will officiate. Interment in Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia.
