A loving and generous woman, Joan Martin, age 93, of Bellbrook, passed away Monday, January 1st, 2018 at Miami Valley Hospital.
She was born October 14th, 1924 in Arlington, Massachusetts to Hazel (Stroud) and Ernest Belanger. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Tufts University in Boston, and taught for several years in the Boston area.
Joan had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her garden where she grew flowers, vegetables and fruits. She also loved quilting and crafting, using her talents to serve others. Joan will also be remembered for her endless support of her family and her abiding devotion to her husband.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Ruth "Sally" Martin-Stewart of Williamston, Michigan; brother, Phillip Belanger of Champagne, Illinois; sister, Ruth Mallett of Manchester, New Hampshire; brother, Richard Belanger of Concord, Massachusetts; brother, Charles Belanger of Arlington, Massachusetts; and brother, Ernest Belanger of Arlington, Massachusetts.
Joan is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lester; three daughters, Betsy Martin Smith (Mark) of Bozeman, Montana, Susan Weinert (Al) of Helena, Montana, and Janet Martin Bertolino (Stuart) of Red Lodge, Montana; son, David Martin (Cindy) of Bellbrook; son-in-law, Greg Stewart of Grove City; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ann Garrity (Russ) of Arlington, Massachusetts..
To help the family celebrate her life, you are invited to a gathering of family and friends on Saturday January 6th from 3-5 pm at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook.
