Obituary for George Charles Janicki

Print
A hard working and devoted family man, and an ornery jokester, George Charles Janicki, 88, of Dayton, passed away Friday, April 7th, 2017 at the Carlisle House.

George was born on September 11, 1928 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania to Sophie (Kovalsky) and George A. Janicki. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothea Marie Janicki (1984), brother William "Bill" Janicki, and sister Sophie Light.

George was a 1946 graduate of Ambridge High School and earned a bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Dayton in 1966. He also attended the General Motors Institute (GMI). George retired from General Motors where he worked as the traffic manager.

George is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Pocius (Dean) of Kettering, daughter Molly Rosesco of Fairfax, Vermont, son Mark Janicki (Elaine) of Kettering, daughter Valerie Stumpf of Enon; five grandchildren, Kirsten McNeil (Brent), Jeremy Boughan, Jennifer Richardson (Justin), Michelle Hess (Matthew), and Ryan Rosesco; and eleven great-grandchildren.

George was passionate about golf and was fortunate to play on many of the countries finest courses. He also loved bowling and was proud to have bowled a 288 game. George has always been conscientious about his health. In his early years, George was a body builder and lifted weights in the basement. George was formerly a dance teacher for Arthur Murray. He and his wife enjoyed dancing and could often be found dancing at Suttmillers Supper Club and the Miami Valley Traffic Club. True to his polish heritage, he was most fond of the Polka. George also enjoyed working meticulously on his yard and garden. More recently, he was an avid reader and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.

You are invited to celebrate George's life beginning with a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday April 12th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651). Services will follow at noon with Father Gary Aultz officiating. There will be a Polish luncheon reception immediately following the services.

You are welcome to send a condolence or flowers to the family, or share a story about George at www.ConnerAndKoch.com by clicking on his name.
