Obituary for Charles William "Charlie" Lucas

Lucas, Charles W. “Charlie”, 91, of Bellbrook, passed away Tuesday March 14, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton.

Charlie was born on May 1, 1925 in Miamisburg to Nannie (Bond) and Robert A. Lucas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Elmer Lucas.

Charlie served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the second world war. He was a member of the American Legion Post #598 Kettering and enjoyed attending their activities. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Georgia (Burroughs) Lucas; three sons, Mike Lucas (Chris) of Finneytown, Bob Lucas (Linda) of Maineville, and Dan Lucas (Melinda) of Bellbrook; five grandchildren, Kristine Atchley (Brandon), Matthew Lucas, Jessica Lucas, Ryan Lucas and Rachel Lucas; one step-granddaughter, Ashley Wilson; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Atchley, Kate Atchley and Xavier Mills; and one sister, Martha Jane Naugle of Richmond, Virginia.

Charlie retired from N.C.R. in 1975 after working 32 years as a pipe fitter. After retiring, he enjoyed being a substitute custodian at Bellbrook Schools.

Charlie was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, U.D. Basketball, U.K. Basketball, O.S.U. Buckeyes Football, as well as his local team, the Bellbrook Eagles. He was an active member of Far Hills Community Church who enjoyed reading the Bible and attending Bible studies.

Charlie loved cakes and pies. To help the family celebrate his life, you are invited to bring your favorite cake or pie to share during the visitation from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm Saturday March 18th at Far Hills Church. Life celebration services will follow at 12:30 pm with Pastor Chris Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bellbrook Cemetery.
