Obituary for Robert Read

Read, Robert, 87, of Bellbrook, passed away Monday, December 19th, 2016. He was born July 30th,1929 to Lillian Aff and Carl Read in Cary, Illinois. Robert worked many years with copy machines as a technician and service manager.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Laura "Liz:`, and his sister Lillian. Bob is survived by his brothers Gordon Read and Carl Read. He is survived by nieces and nephews Craig Goeppinger, Allan Goeppinger, Brad Goeppinger, Jan Read, Tod Read, Aaron Read, Robin Keating, Christopher Read, Mark Read, Jody McManus and Wendy Cusick.

Bob was very active and generous. He was political active in the local Republican party and his love of card games found him regularly part of a Euchre group. He was known to indulge in $1 bets. He was a passionate golfer and gardener. He was known for giving away most of the vegetables he grew but many people returned the favor in delicious food he loved. But not as much as peanut butter which he was known to eat from the jar by the spoonful. Bob also was well known to local Cracker Barrels.

The family will have a visitation and Memorial service on Saturday March 4, 2017 from 2:00- 4:00pm at Conner & Koch LIfe Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St, Bellbrook, Ohio. In memory of Bob's love of dogs and training them you may send contributions to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, 1661 NIcholas Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45417.
