Obituary for Donald John "Jack" Crain

Crain, Donald J. “Jack”
A devoted husband for more than 65 years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Tuesday October 11, 2011 at the age of 91. He was born February 4, 1920 in Logansport, Indiana to Alice Isabel (Brown) Crain and Donald Jay Crain. Jack was an Army Air Corps veteran and a Sunday School teacher, choir member, an elder and a member of Bellbrook Presbyterian Church, where the family will receive friends on Saturday October 15 from 1:30-2:30 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 with Rev. Stan Gockel officiating and burial in Bellbrook Cemetery. Before retiring, Jack worked as a salesman for Durez Plastics (Plaslock Plastics, Lockport, NY), where he was known to practice honesty in sales. He had an insatiable love of sports; competed himself when he was younger, refereed and umpired and as a spectator as he got older. Jack also enjoyed playing cards like solitaire and euchre with his friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, 2 brothers Richard and Joseph, and great-grandson Reed. Jack is survived by 2 sons Jack Crain and wife Andrea of Hamilton, Gordon Crain & wife Marva Jean of Bridgeport, West Virginia, 2 daughters Sharon Sawyer and husband Alan of Bellbrook, Kathy Keiter of Albany, Ohio, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 brother George Alan Crain and wife Margie of Pennsylvania.
